Dawn Harvest..............

Awake and restless again at 4.30am this morning (early summer sunrises are the curse of the insomniac) so down to the allotment by 5.30am, just for the sake of a walk really.

Very cool quiet and peaceful at that time of day.

Picked some veg whilst I was there, and brought back this lot for dinner tonight.

Just add sausages!

That's looking pretty good. I'd be proud to have a show like that at any time. Good on ya!

Well done on the dawn raid ... the best way to start the day!

They are Vale's Emerald John.

A good flavour, and quite waxy. Not a huge crop per plant though, but I think that's down to the dry weather rather than the variety.

No Al, sadly not homemade sausages...Waitrose ones actually.

Afraid I lack your domestic skills in the kitchen...and the inclination to spend time making my own bangers.

We grew peas last year and found them too time consuming to shell so this year have opted for Manage Tout. They are so easy to grow and to pick and cook. Have you ever tried to grow them ?
We are having them for tea tonight.

Yes, they are a bit of a pain to shell, but i don't really like mange tout much so I'm persevering.
